I was most recently the Mississippi State beat reporter for The Commercial Dispatch, covering Southeastern Conference football, basketball, baseball and more. I write breaking news, previews, features, game stories, sidebars and much more, traveling to all away games for football and select road trips in other sports. I covered Dartmouth athletics and high school sports in the Upper Valley of New Hampshire and Vermont for the Valley News from October 2021 until August 2023. I wrote features, game stories, breaking news and long-form pieces, handling the Big Green football beat for the 2022 season. During the fall of 2020, I interned remotely with the politics and policy team at Vox.com, covering the 2020 election. I was responsible for creating Vox’s daily newsletter, Sentences, which is sent to more than 130,000 email subscribers. I also wrote breaking news stories and explainer articles of my own, and helped other reporters with special projects. I’ve held the positions of sports editor, assistant sports editor, copy chief, summer managing editor and web editor, and have written previews, recaps, athlete profiles and sports columns, as well as some coverage of the Northwestern and Evanston communities. I worked for two-plus years as a freelance writer for Softball America, which launched in 2019 as a sister site to Baseball America. I wrote weekly recaps for the inaugural season of Athletes Unlimited, a player-centric league featuring some of the best talent in the world. I also wrote weekly news features and player profiles on Big Ten and ACC softball during the shortened 2020 season, and I covered the 2019 NCAA Regionals for the site, which provides softball fans with news, features and rankings for every level of the sport. I spent the winter of 2020 in Washington, D.C. as part of Northwestern’s Medill on the Hill program. I focused on education policy, but covered government and politics in general, including the Senate impeachment trial and the 2020 Democratic primary in South Carolina. For the summer of 2020, I was a reporting intern with the Cape Cod Times, working remotely from my home in California. I covered the Cape Cod Baseball League, the most prestigious amateur baseball league in the country. Although the Cape League’s season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I still wrote features about the league, as well as the Falmouth Road Race and other local news coverage on the Cape.
